Evan will teach the cooking classes in a beautifully restored farmhouse
just outside of the charming hill town of Montalcino. During our
week together there will be a minimum of 5 cooking classes featuring
the local produce and wines. The cooking classes concentrate on
simple rustic cuisine that can easily fit into hectic schedules
back home. Most meals at the villa will be prepared together (group
participation classes). We will explore the local shops and markets,
choosing the very freshest ingredients to use in our daily meals.
In most cases, what we cook will depend on what the market has to
offer on any particular day.
When not cooking, we will be taking short trips to explore some
of the area’s exquisitely scenic towns. Montalcino is a charming
small hill town set amidst some of the best vineyards in Italy.
It is the area famed for Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino.
From the large Banfi estate to the more modest Il Poggio, we will
explore vineyards and have tastings.
We will take day trips to the nearby towns of Pienza and Siena to
take in the sights and, or course, eat.
We will also dedicate time exploring those local traditions that
produce some of Italy’s best cheeses, wines, and cured meats.
We will visit an extraordinary chocolate artisan near Florence,
as well as a talented pastry chef in Prato.
We are in a private villa located in the countryside outside of
the walled town of Montalcino.
Your accommodations are in a beautifully restored 19th century farmhouse.
Maid and laundry services are included.
